Neil Stremmel to be Next BCAW Executive Director

After an extensive national search, Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin (BCAW) is excited to announce the hire of Neil Stremmel as its next executive director, effective January 3, 2022.  In June current BCAW Executive Director Yvonne Bennett, CAE informed the BCAW Board of Directors of her intent to resign the position effective the first of the year.

He understands the association’s mission well and has great respect for our proprietors. The board is excited to work with Neil as our new executive director and we are excited to see the Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin continue to grow and flourish under Neil’s leadership.”

Stremmel is well known and respected in the bowling industry throughout the United States and abroad.  The son of the former proprietors of a small bowling center in  Stillman Valley, Ill. he grew up working in the family business.  His first position to serve bowling started in 2000 when he was employed by Bowling, Inc. Shared Services working for ABC and WIBC in the position of Director of Research when Bowling Headquarters was in Greendale, Wis.  With the formation of USBC in 2005, his role evolved into what would become the Managing Director of the National Governing Body, a position held until 2016.

Most recently, Stremmel has been the general manager of Cypress Lanes, a 40 lane family entertainment center in Winter Haven, Fla.  For 18 years (2001-2018), he served as a volunteer on the Technical Committee for World Bowling, the international sports organization for bowling recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC); with the last 10 years as chairman.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., Stremmel has previously worked in a variety of engineering positions within nuclear power, aerospace and acoustical organizations.  In addition to his exceptional background in bowling, Stremmel’s demonstrated project management and leadership skills with these various industries will benefit BCAW.

The Bowling Centers Association of Wisconsin (BCAW) is a 501(c)6 trade association representing 225 member centers primarily in the state of Wisconsin. The association is governed by a 14 member Board of Directors. BCAW’s mission is to enhance the profitability of their members through programs and services in conjunction with the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America (BPAA). The business office is located in the Milwaukee suburb of Pewaukee.

Brian grew up in New York before moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1991. He has been involved in writing for his own bowling publication called “Striking Spotlight.” He has been published in the Desert Bowler Newspaper, Windy City News Newspaper and the Bowlers Journal. Hirsch is a Youth Director in the Kenosha USBC and a former Director for the Metro Phoenix USBC. As a Level 1 and RVP USBC coach, he can be found coaching his wife Amber and their son Masen each Saturday morning. Hirsch currently has (6) 300’s and (4) 800’s and is a member of the International Gay Bowling Organization where he is a five-time IGBO Champion and a six-time Arizona State Grand Canyon State Games Medalist. The Hirsch’s moved to Wisconsin to be closer to family and assist the Freedom Farm for Vets. Hirsch’s home bowling center is Sheridan Lanes, located in Kenosha, WI.
