O’KEEFE GOLDEN AS AUGUST IBMA BOWLER OF THE MONTHShannon O’Keefe, Shiloh, Illinois, has been voted as the August 2019 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the International Bowling Media AssociationO’Keefe had one of the more memorable months any recent honoree. winning the PWBA East Hartford Open and the PWBA BowlerX.com PWBA Orlando Open,The McKendree University Women’s Bowling coach also won a Women’s Doubles gold medal with Stefanie Johnson at the Pan American Games, won the Singles gold medal and Team and All Events bronze medals at the World Bowling Women’s Championships as a member of Team USA.O’Keefe began August with her first PWBA triumph in the East Hartford Open, downing second seeded Birgit Poppler, Germany 225-203 in the title match. Two weeks later in the BowlerX.com PWBA Orlando Open, O’Keefe ousted top seeded Danielle McEwan, Stony Point, New York, 207-202 for her second PWBA title of the month. It is her fourth title this season and 12 th PWBA career title.Rounding out the month, O’Keefe captured the Women’s Doubles gold medal with partner Stefanie Johnson at the Pan American Games. Their twelve game combined total was 264 pins better than silver medalists Illiana Lomeli Lemus and Miriam Aseret Setter Velazco of Mexico. Aumi Guerra and Astrid Valiente of the Dominican Republic were 303 pins behind in third place, taking home bronze medals.At the World Bowling Women’s Championships, fourth seeded and Team USA teammate Danielle McEwan defeated the third seeded O’Keefe 259-193 for the Singles gold medal. Lee Nayoung, South Korea, and Sandra Andersson, Sweden, won the bronze medals.Also receiving votes this month were Dasha Kovalova, winning the Pepsi PWBA Louisville Open with the fourth nationally televised 300 game in PWBA history,
Sean Rash, winner of the PBA Wolf Open, Jason Sterner, winner of the PBA Illinois Open, Duane Mellinger, winner of the World Bowling Tour 16 th New Mexico Open, Maria Jose Rodriguez, Team Columbia, All Events and Team gold medalist at the World Bowling Women’s Championships and Women’s Singles bronze medalist at the Pan American Games, and Anthony Simonson, winner of the PBA Bear Open.
