Kyle Troup, Taylorsville, North Carolina, has been selected as the February 2021 Bowler of the Month by the International Bowling Media Association
Troup defeated Dick Allen, Lexington, South Carolina, 257 to 212, to win his first PBA major title, the PBA Players Championship. It is also his seventh career PBA title.
The television stepladder finals started with fourth seeded Tom Smallwood, Saginaw, Michigan, bested fifth seeded Anthony Simonsen, Little Elm, Texas, 278 to 225. The second match saw the third seeded Allen defeat Smallwood, 216 to 195, then oust Francois Lavoie, Canada, 244 to 227, in the semifinal to set up the final match with Troup.
The head of Team Fish won the Players Championship East Region stepladder finals as top seed with a 257 game, then shot another 257 as the top seed in the Players Championship final and a record tying $250,000 first place prize.
Others obtaining votes this month were Francois Lavoie, winner of the Kia PBA Tournament of Champions and third place PBA Players Championship, Anthony Simonsen, runner up, Kia PBA Tournament of Champions and fifth place, PBA Players Championship, Tom Smallwood, fourth place PBA Players Championship and fifth place Kia PBA Tournament of Champions.
