Chris Barnes, Double Oak, Texas, has been voted as the September 2020 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the International Bowling Media Association.
Barnes won the PBA Liberal Kansas Southwest Region Open by 133 pins over runner up Francois Lavoie, Canada, and third-place finisher Shawn Maldonado, Houston, Texas by 139 pins. The victory is his 29th PBA regional title.
The PBA Hall of Famer finished qualifying in sixth place, then took the lead in match play, winning his first five of eight matches in the modified match play round, eventually posting a 7 and 1 record.
He clinched the title with a decisive 257 to 127 win over A.J. Chapman, Manchester, Iowa in the position round match, dropping Chapman from second to fourth place.
Others obtaining votes this month were Nate Stubler, winner of the Greater Iowa Bowling Association (GIBA) Ebonite Fall Classic, Cortez Schenk, winner of the PBA Bowlero Mesa West Region Open, Portland Timbers, winners of the 2020 PBA League Elias Cup, Matt Russo, winner of the PBA Bowlersmart Midwest Region Open, and Chris Via, winner of the PBA Boss Snow Plow/O’Brien Auto Central Region Open, and Rick Benard, winner of the PBA50 Waxahachie Southwest Region Open.
