IBMA ANNOUNCES 2020
STORM BOWLING COLLEGIATE
BOWLERS OF THE YEAR
ARLINGTON, Texas – Caitlyn Johnson, a Senior at Webber International University, and Tommy Hankey, Jr., a Sophomore at Webber International University, were announced today as the Storm Collegiate Bowlers of the Year for 2020 by the International Bowling Media Association (IBMA). The online announcement was made on Bowl TV. Presentations of the awards to the athletes will be made at a time and place to be determined.
Hankey (Monument Mountain Regional H.S., Great Barrington, MA) is a Computer Information Systems major. Tommy’s top performances of the year were a string of three top-5 finishes in the Brunswick Southern Classic, the Striking Knights tourney, and the Glenn Carlson Memorial Las Vegas Invitational. He was Runner-Up at the Brunswick Southern with a 238 average (51 pins above the field average), another Runner-Up finish at the Striking Knights with a 221 average (also 51 pins above the field average), and a 3rd place finish at the Las Vegas Invitational with a 230 average (40 pins above the field average). For the season, Tommy was 35 pins above the field average and in the top 5% of the field at 4 of the 8 events in which he competed.
Johnson (Hardin-Jefferson H.S., Beaumont, TX) is a Business Marketing major. Caitlyn was the IBMA’s Collegiate Bowler of the Year in 2018 and was named a Runner-Up last season. Caitlyn had top-5 finishes at four major tournaments: 5th place at the Midwest Collegiate Classic with a 208 average (31 pins above the field average); 3rd place at the Brunswick Southern Classic with a 211 average (41 pins above the field average); individual champion at the Glenn Carlson Memorial Las Vegas Invitational (220 average, 42 pins above the field average); and Runner-Up at the Hoosier Classic (235 average, 55 pins above the field average). For the season, she averaged 38 pins above the field average.

RUNNERS-UP, MEN
Brandon Biondo, a Junior at Wichita State University majoring in Sports Management (Harry D. Jacobs H.S., Hometown – Carpentersville, IL). Brandon had a top-5 finish at the Collegiate Shoot-Out (3rd place with a 219 average, 37 pins above the field average).
Dylan Byars, a Senior at Savannah College of Art & Design majoring in User Experience Design (Satellite Beach H.S., Satellite Beach, FL). Dylan finished his season with a top-5 finish at the Hoosier Classic (3rd with a 223 average, 38 pins above the field average).
Bryan Hahlen, a Senior at McKendree University majoring in Sport Management (Greenwood H.S., Greenwood, SC). Bryan was the individual runner-up at the Western Shootout (231 average, 48 pins above the field average).
Benjamin Martinez, a Senior at Savannah College of Art & Design majoring in Advertising (Universidad del Valle de Mexico, Hometown – Zapopan, Mexico). Benjamin captured the individual crown at the Peach Classic with a 244 average (55 pins above the field average).
RUNNERS-UP, WOMEN
Ayra Nur Jehan Aminuddin, a Freshman at Mount Mercy University majoring in Graphic Design (Hometown – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). Ayra had a top-5 finish at the Illinois State BPA Midwest Classic with a 210 average (35 pins above the field average, putting her in the top 2%).
Breanna Clemmer, a Senior at McKendree University majoring in Elementary Education (Clover H.S., Clover, SC). This is Breanna’s second consecutive year as a CBoY Runner-Up. Breanna finished in the runner-up spot for individual honors at both the NCAA Bearcat Classic (225 average, 49 pins above the field average) and the NCAA Prairie View Classic (229 average, 37 pins above the field average).
Lauren Piotrowski, a Senior at the University of Pikeville majoring in Business Administration (Schenectady H.S., Schenectady, NY). Lauren was the IBMA’s Female Collegiate Bowler of the Year in 2019. Lauren finished her season with a top-5 finish at the Hoosier Classic (3rd place with a 227 average, 48 pins above the field average, putting her in the top 1%).
Abigail Ragsdale, a Senior at the University of St. Francis majoring in Substance Abuse Counseling (Oswego East H.S., Hometown – Aurora, IL). This is also Abigail’s second consecutive year as a CBoY Runner-Up. Abigail won the individual crown at both the Midwest Collegiate (216 average, 39 pins above the field average) and the Illinois State BPA Midwest Classic (220 average, 46 pins above the field average).
HONORABLE MENTION, WOMEN
Taylor Bailey, a Senior at McKendree University majoring in Athletic Training (Joliet West H.S., Joliet, IL). Taylor won the individual crown at the NCAA Bearcat Classic (229 average, 52 pins above the field average) and the NCAA Saints Invitational (229 average, 47 pins above the field average).
Mattie Brandos, a Senior at Robert Morris University Illinois majoring in Business Administration (Brookfield Central H.S., Brookfield, WI). Mattie finished her season by clinching the individual title at the Hoosier Classic with a 241 average (62 pins above the field average).
Maryssa Carey, Junior at Indiana Institute of Technology majoring in Biomedical Engineering (Hobart H.S., Hobart, IN). This marks Maryssa’s third consecutive year as a CBoY Honorable Mention. Maryssa was the top bowler in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, winning the top individual spot at their first and last meets with averages of 205 (53 pins above the field) and 198 (39 pins above the field).
HONORABLE MENTION, MEN
Cerell Cardines, a Sophomore at the University of Las Vegas majoring in Elementary Education (East Career & Technical Academy, Las Vegas, NV). Cerell’s top performance of the season was a 6th place finish at the Glenn Carlson Memorial Las Vegas Invitational (226 average, 44 pins above the field average, putting him in the top 2%).
Kevin McCune, a Junior at Calumet College of St. Joseph majoring in Business (Andrean H.S., Hometown – Munster, IN). Kevin finished his season with a 2nd place in the individual standings at the Hoosier Classic (224 average, 38 pins above the field average).
Brandon Mooney, a Junior at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater majoring in Physical Education (Hononegah H.S., Hometown – Roscoe, IL). Brandon had a top-5 finish at the Keystone Quaker Classic with a 219 average (3rd place, 43 pins above the field average).
