Kris Prather Paces PBA BowlerStore.com Classic First Round

PBA Playoffs winner rolls 279 final game to top FloBowling PBA Summer Tour qualifiers

COLDWATER, Ohio (Aug. 22, 2019) – Kris Prather of Plainfield, Illinois, continued his torrid pace in a breakout year, rolling a 279 final game Thursday to lead the sold-out field of 96 competitors after the eight-game qualifying round in the PBA BowlerStore.com Classic, presented by Moxy’s Xtra Pair, at Pla-Mor Lanes.

Prather, who won his first Go Bowling! PBA Tour title in the PBA Scorpion Open followed by a victory in the inaugural PBA Playoffs and a role on the PBA League’s Elias Cup champion Portland Lumberjacks, averaged 235.88 for an eight-game total of 1,887 pins and a 19-pin lead over two-hander Anthony Simonsen of Little Elm, Texas.

Nick Kruml of Downers Grove, Illinois was in third place with 1,851 pins. Kruml, eight days shy of his 26th birthday, was the early leader in his bid for his first Go Bowling! PBA Tour title. He finished qualifying eight pins ahead of defending Coldwater champion Jakob Butturff of Tempe, Arizona. Jason Sterner of Rochester, New York, was two pins behind Butturff.

The BowlerStore.com Classic is the sixth of 10 events that are part of the FloBowling PBA Summer Tour.

The Coldwater tournament concludes Friday beginning with a four-game cashers round for the top 32 qualifiers at 11 a.m. The top 16 after 12 games will then bowl another three games at 1:30 p.m. The top eight after 15 games bowl a final two-game qualifying round at 3 p.m. to determine the four players who will compete for the title in the stepladder finals at 5 p.m. All times are Eastern.

All rounds Friday will be livestreamed on FloBowling. For subscription information, visit FloBowling.com. Fans also can follow the action by watching Live Scoring on pba.com.
