INAUGURATION OF WORLD BOWLING’S AFRICAN ZONE

LAUSANNE, On Wednesday, April 4, a meeting in Cairo, Egypt took place to inaugurate World Bowling’s African Zone Confederation. This meeting solidifies the many months of hard workundertaken by World Bowling representatives and key figures of the sport within Africa to establish the governance needed to create zone.

World Bowling representative Danny Santos says “The continent of Africa boasts a rich tapestry of first class players, excellent tournaments and pivotal development programmes. The establishment of the zone is key to our strategic values of extending our sport’s reach and accessibility. We look forward to working with the zone to better create opportunities for the sport within Africa and are very excited to celebrate this monumental occasion.”

During the meeting, the following officers were elected:

President of the Bowling Federation of Africa: Mr. Farouk Haridi of Egypt
Vice-President of the Bowling Federation of Africa: Mrs. Kiley Cassel of South Africa

Executive Committee Members:
Mr. Khaled Meziou – Chairman of the Tunisian Bowling Federation.
Mr. Ali Hassan Jameel – Chairman of the Somalian Bowling Federation.
Mr. Abdel Hamid Gamal – Egyptian Bowling Federation.

About Me

Brian grew up in New York before moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1991. He has been involved in writing for his own bowling publication called “Striking Spotlight.” He has been published in the Desert Bowler Newspaper, Windy City News Newspaper and the Bowlers Journal. Hirsch is a Youth Director in the Kenosha USBC and a former Director for the Metro Phoenix USBC. As a Level 1 and RVP USBC coach, he can be found coaching his wife Amber and their son Masen each Saturday morning. Hirsch currently has (6) 300’s and (4) 800’s and is a member of the International Gay Bowling Organization where he is a five-time IGBO Champion and a six-time Arizona State Grand Canyon State Games Medalist. The Hirsch’s moved to Wisconsin to be closer to family and assist the Freedom Farm for Vets. Hirsch’s home bowling center is Sheridan Lanes, located in Kenosha, WI.
